The 8th Annual Super Bowl Party was held at the FYC on Sunday, February 8th, and it was EPIC!
High schoolers enjoyed... - Delicious game day food including wings, potato skins, mozzarella sticks, veggie spring rolls, and pizza, thanks to Community Prevention Resources of Warren County! Plus, football-themed desserts donated by FYC Faithful supporter, Mrs. Michele Cook! - Playing pick-up basketball games in the gym! - Watching the game in the Multipurpose Room, where FYC staff turned one side into premium seating! - Winning some super cool prizes including Beats Headphones, Beat Earbuds, a Premium Speaker, Playstation Controller, Polaroid Camera Bundle, and a variety of gift cards! - Having access to a safe, supervised environment on a night when underage drinking tends to spike! - Meeting Phillipsburg Police Officers who stopped by to hang out and ended up joining in some basketball games!
All of the High Schoolers were helpful, respectful, and grateful, however there were 2 outstanding youth who deserved something extra special. Abbie and Lucas each received a $50 gift card to Walmart and brand-new reebok sweatshirts (courtesy of Mrs. Donna Schaare!) for going above and beyond FYC expectations! Staff said these youth encouraged their peers to respect the facility, displayed great sportsmanship, were engaged in activities, and helped clean-up throughout the event.
As always, nothing is done at the FYC in a silo...a huge thank you to Community Prevention Resources of Warren County, Inc., the LEAD Phillipsburg Coalition, Phillipsburg Police Department, and Phillipsburg Municipal Alliance for working so diligently behind the scenes to make this event happen! Plus our awesome staff who gave up their Super Bowl plans to provide this safe opportunity to P'burg High Schoolers! A special shoutout to Ray Patt, Pburg's ultimate volunteer, for helping throughout the event too!
