Is your child interested in additional leadership opportunities? Is your child passionate about helping others? Our iLEAD Youth Coalition Club sounds like a great fit for them! The iLEAD Youth Coalition is an interactive club focused on shaping youth into future leaders through character building, substance prevention education, access to positive mentors, and more. In 2019, the Firth Youth Center was appointed as the fiscal agent for LEAD Phillipsburg: Learn, Educate, Advocate, Develop Drug Free Communities Coalition. This is a competitive grant under the direction of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. LEAD Phillipsburg currently serves the Town of Phillipsburg and surrounding communities. The coalition consists of sector representatives and staff that work together to strengthen community collaboration in support of local efforts to reduce youth substance use. LEAD Phillipsburg focuses on integrating prevention and environmental strategies to decrease underage drinking, tobacco, and marijuana use among youth. iLEAD meetings consist of resume building, interactive activities, prevention curriculums, confidence building, leadership roles, and other opportunities. No prior registration is required for meetings. A 2024-2025 Membership/Emergency Contact form is required. Copies are available on our website or at the FYC Front Desk.
The iLEAD Youth Coalition will meets bi-weekly on Tuesdays, starting January 14 at 6pm at the Firth Youth Center. Additional dates are listed on the flyer below. If you would like to be added to the email list, please reach out to Uswad Qureshi, Project Assistant Intern, at [email protected].

Check out what the iLEAD Youth Coalition has been up to....
On Friday, November 1st, the Phillipsburg High School Athletic Department helped take National Red Ribbon Week messaging from the educational setting to the social setting. Choosing to refuse substances and living a healthy lifestyle cannot be simply preached in a classroom, but it must be infiltrated into every part of our community!
As the Stateliners took on the Raiders during the first round of playoffs, LEAD Phillipsburg handed out red sunglasses and prevention education material in observance of #RedRibbonWeek.
BUT, that's not all.....
- The Band showed their support by wearing red sunglasses throughout the game!
- The Cheer Team wore red hairs bows AND included Red Ribbon Week messaging on the massive banner the Football Team ran through!
- The Student Section cheered on the Stateliners while posing for pictures with their red sunglasses!
- LEAD Phillipsburg hung posters near the student entrance highlighting the misconception that the majority of High School students engage in substance misuse and recognizing students leading substance-free lives!
- Youth Volunteers helped hand out sunglasses to their peers while representing the iLEAD Youth Coalition!
- Important announcements about #RedRibbonWeek were made during the game at Maloney Stadium!
SO many collaborating partners helped bring this initiative to the forefront under Friday Night's Lights....Special thanks to PHS Athletic Director Kyle Fleming, Cheer Coach Michelle Ciavarella, Band Director Adam Josephson, Football Coach Frank Duffy, Maloney Stadium Announcer Sam Lavalva, and the LEAD Phillipsburg Coalition (including Superintendent Troxell, Chief Stettner, Yvette Day, April Poretta, Bill Benz, Robyn Coe-Donaldson, Brooke Renkens, Warren County Department of Addiction Services, Star Community Health, St. Luke's University Health Network, Warren County Regional Coalition, DASACC, Kelly Post-Sheedy, and Keely Rehman). Teamwork truly makes the dreamwork!
