SUMMER CAMP FAQs

- What is the daily schedule like? A typical day includes morning team huddles, 4 morning rotations, lunch, large group activities, 4 afternoon rotations, and a camp-wide meeting where we announce the "Camper of the Day!". On some days, we spend the afternoon swimming or on a field trip.
- Will my child be with older or younger kids? No, camp groups are based on ages. We do move kids around to make sure they're with friends and set-up to succeed, however, the ages never vary more than 2 years from their peers.
- What is the fee? The fee is $150 per week.
- Do you offer tuition scholarships? Yes, we accept NJ Child Care Subsidy through Norwescap. If you want to apply, you should contact Norwescap's Child Care Assistance Program at 908-454-1078.
- Are there extra fees for field trips and assemblies? No, all field trips, assemblies, special activities are included at the regular tuition rate.
- Is there before or after care? No. The camp day is 8am-4:30pm. We clear the building before evening programs start for MS & HS kids who are ineligible to attend camp, but need opportunities too! The exciting camp days are LONG and we've noticed that many kids are exhausted by 4:30pm.
- Is lunch provided? Yes, a USDA lunch is provided through our partnership with Norwescap Food Bank. It is on a rotating 2-week schedule and Thursdays are Pizza Days! Additionally, the FYC provides a morning and afternoon snack at no charge.
- Can I pack? Yes! Kids may be picky, so please pack a lunch. However, we do not always have access to microwaves, so do not send microwaveable items without checking the daily schedule. Ramon Noodles are not permitted.
- What's this about physicals and immunizations? Per NJ Dept. of Children & Families, all children attending a licensed child care providers must be up-to-date on vaccinations and have a physical exam within 12-months of starting programming. Children will not be enrolled, "hold a spot, or permitted to attend camp until valid documentation is received and reviewed by the FYC Office Staff.
- How do I "hold a spot"? To hold your child's spot, you must complete the FYC Enrollment Packet, provide an acceptable copy of the PE/IMM records, and pay the 1st week's tuition. If you receive subsidized child care, no payment is required but rather an updated contract with the summer dates is necessary prior to enrollment.
- Do I have to enroll in the full 10.5 weeks? No, you can pick and choose which weeks you need child care for. However, spots will not be held unless checked off in the Enrollment Packet. Moreover, whichever weeks you check off for, you will be responsible for paying as we are holding that spot for your child.
- Why is the last week only Monday-Wednesday? FYC Camp has always been 10-weeks. However, the extra summer days this year will leave families without care. Therefore, we've connected with Lafayette College students to add 3 extra camp days (8am-4:30pm) for our families. These days will be packed with extra activities and a field trip (or two)! You will notice in the Enrollment Packet that this week's fee is only $100.
- I'm new to the area and/or FYC, but I want to check it out. Great! Call Miss Meghan at any time to set-up a tour of the facility and ask additional questions.
